This couldn’t be a more exciting time as Upside Therapy continues to grow, and we are proud to present our new therapist Barbara Crowley, MS, LPC-I. Mrs. Crowley is supervised by Carrie Crutcher, M.S., LPC-S.
Barbara Crowley received a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from University of North Texas in 1997. She is a member of the Texas Counseling Association, American Psychological Association, and the American Society on Aging. Mrs. Crowley is a volunteer mental health professional on the Critical Incident Stress Management team with the Dallas Fire and Rescue Department.
Mrs. Crowley believes the therapist/client relationship is a unique social connection providing individuals a safe space to explore their past, adjust their present, and plan for their future. Mrs. Crowley also feels strongly about “team care” and happily collaborates with physicians and psychiatrists to maximize client health outcomes. “Accept, choose, and take action.” Those are key components of the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) style Mrs. Crowley embraces. This particular type of therapy encourages individuals to seek a deeper understanding of the sometimes unpleasant realities of the world and then choose to develop new behaviors which allow them to interact more successfully within that world. ACT serves as a way to “reboot” your thinking.
We look forward to Mrs. Crowley being an outstanding therapist that exudes a high level of care, concern, and compassion for others. Mrs. Crowley is an excellent complement to our therapy practice, as she is passionate about helping people in transition, through depression, anxiety, and other life experiences.
Upside Therapy is committed to helping children and adults throughout the lifespan. Mrs. Crowley is currently accepting new therapy patients. Contact us for more information about scheduling a consultation with Mrs. Crowley and/or Dr. Oppenheimer. We look forward to hearing from you soon, and once again welcome Mrs. Crowley!
